Corey M. Shea Born August 14, 1987 in Boston (Brighton), MA Popular athlete, crafty poker player, sports fanatic, and ladies man ;) Played football and hockey at Mansfield High School 2005 Graduate of Mansfield HS Served as Cavalry Scout (MOS 19D20): driving Humvees & Bradley fighting vehicles, and manning gun turrets
Loved Army unit camaraderie and was 'go-to-guy' in his platoon Dedicated soldier earned 8 medals for his hard work and good deeds - cared for residents of Mosul he was protecting Arrived in Iraq in January 2008 - after 11 month combat tour, was preparing to return to USA soon Survived by mom, dad, 2 sisters, and brother
Inspirational Note about Corey Shea While reading a number of sites about his life and Army service, I came across this surreal, inspirational note about Corey - it reinforced Corey's mom's statement that, "he looked out for people." And, what a lasting impression he made on this family - still honoring him 6 years later. "I met an Iraqi Christian Refugee family in Jordan in October 2014 who had escaped from ISIS only a few weeks earlier. Adnan Mettee and his family, from Mosul, told me about an American friend named SPC Corey Shea. He said Corey was a great help to him and his family in Mosul. Adnan and his family had to leave Mosul very quickly and they were not able to take much with them. Adnan did have a small folder of important papers and in this folder was a bulletin from Corey’s Memorial Service that was held in Mosul on Nov 19th 2008. He had another bulletin for the Memorial of Sgt. Jose Regalado that was also held that day. He asked me to tell his family members that Corey was a very brave and helpful friend. Adnan also said that he prays for Corey’s family members back in the USA." -Ken Savoie on Forever Missed

Specialist Corey Shea, ... After, learning about your life and Army service, I'm in awe. You're the kind of soldier I would have loved having serve in my Marine unit - working hard, playing hard, and sharing lots of stories about our favorite Boston sports teams. So, in appreciation of you, and because I'm a Boston sports fan as well, I flew the 5x Super Bowl Champs, New England Patriots flag with your iHonor American Flag (see below). So, now, I have figure out how to get your iHonor Flag flying at Gillette Stadium in your honor ;) ... Challenge accepted! - from Sean on 4/19/19 [ photo of SPC Shea's iHonor American Flag flying with one of his favorite sports teams on my dad's (Poppy's) memorial flagpole - my dad, being from Roslindale, Boston, would approve ;) ]
