U.S. Navy SEAL / Aviation Ordnanceman Petty Officer 2nd Class Marc A. Lee, age 28, served in Operation Iraqi Freedom with SEAL Team 3 Killed in action (KIA) on August 2, 2006 during combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq

Marc Alan Lee Born March 20, 1978 in Portland, OR Known for his humor, playful antics, determination, perseverance, courage, selfless attitude, and Christian faith Raised in Colorado (age 1-7) then moved back to Hood River, OR - where homeschooled until Junior
Played varsity soccer for Hood River Valley HS Voted 2x as 'Class Clown' at Baptist Christian School and graduated in 1996 In 1997, moved to Colorado to pursue pro soccer career with Colorado Rapids, but unfortunately tore ACL During rehab back in Oregon began researching how to become a Navy SEAL From 1998 to 2000, played college soccer for The Master's College in CA while studying Bible & Theology and then Law In addition to soccer, loved skiing and weightlifting
Enlisted in Navy in 2001 to become a SEAL, but first had to complete training as an aviation ordnanceman in FL Attended Basic Underwater Demolition / SEAL (BUDS) training - first attempt interrupted by pneumonia and pulmonary edema in 2001 and then "rang the bell" during Hell Week of second attempt and was sent back to aviation ordnanceman duties "Hated life" during temporary assignment to dry-docked aircraft carrier, USS Eisenhower, so relentlessly pursued re-application to BUD/S
In 2004, surprisingly approved to return to Coronado for SEAL training and graduated #2 in class
In May 2006, deployed to Ramadi, Iraq for combat operations with Charlie Platoon, Task Unit Bruiser, SEAL Team 3
On August 2, 2006, while clearing buildings of insurgents in Ramadi, Iraq ... ... first courageously stood up by himself two times to provide cover fire as teammates medevac'd a severely wounded teammate, SEAL Ryan Job, from a rooftop ... ... then, later, went back out to hunt down 30+ insurgent team responsible for that day's US & Iraq military casualties ... ... while carrying 100+ pounds of machinegun and equipment, took lead to clear building, ... ... his team got caught in a bad, deadly enemy line of fire, so Lee, for a third time that day, stood alone, sacrificing himself with his gun ablaze, while his team got out of the building to safety

For his combat heroics, Navy SEAL Marc Lee was posthumously bestowed with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Valor, and Silver Star - the 3rd highest military decoration for valor SEAL Marc Lee was the first Navy SEAL to be KIA in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) He was buried at Fort Rosecrans Military Cemetery in San Diego, CA Survived by wife, Maya, mother, Debbie, sister Cheryl, and brother Kris
