Fallen Patriot Commemoration
This Interactive American Flag is dedicated to:
U.S. Navy Corpsman (HM3)
Lee H. Deal of West Monroe, LA
[ listed as third resident of W. Monroe killed in the Global War on Terror ]

​HM3 (Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class) Deal, 23, served in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
with B Company, 2nd Recon Battalion, Regimental Combat Team-5, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Camp Lejeune, NC
Killed on May 17, 2006, by small arms fire during an enemy engagement in Abu Ghraid, Iraq

We honor and thank Corpsman Deal for defending our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others.

Born April 13, 1983
Multisport athlete who played football, soccer, baseball, and golf
Player on West Monroe HS 2000 5A State Champion Football Team
Graduated from West Monroe HS in 2002
​Attended Louisiana State University from ? to ?
Enlisted in US Navy in 2003
Trained as Hospital Corpsman
Selected for and Completed Basic Recon School, Army Jump School, Combatant Diver School, and others
Assigned to US Marine Corps 2nd Recon Battalion
Endeared by Marines as outspoken, energetic, funny, Corpsman who once performed first aid on a cow because that was part of what Deal saw as his responsibility
Deployed to Iraq to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
Survived by parents, brother, and fiancee'

"Our corpsmen are special to us Marines, and in every sense of the word, they are fellow Marines."  Deal died "fearlessly clearing a suspected insurgent stronghold with his fellow Marines, willingly sacrificing his own safety to the benefit of his fellow Marines and to the successful accomplishment of the mission.  The price of freedom requires force, determination, courage and sacrifice, And at times, it requires the lives of heroes. Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Lee Hamilton Deal was the embodiment of all those attributes and in my eyes, he was a hero."
