Survived by wife, Maria Dietz, mom and dad
We honor and thank U.S. Navy Petty Officer Danny Dietz Jr. for defending our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others.
Danny Dietz inspires us with his grit and determination:
As he left for his last deployment, he told his wife, "All the training I have (undergone) for years is going to pay off with this trip, and I am going to do something special for this country and for my team.” ... And, that he did.

Operation Red Wings overview*
Sadly, June 28th, 2005, was one of the worst days in Special Operations history.
During a military operation intended to stop the Taliban from interfering with the upcoming Afghan elections, known as Operation Red Wings, 19 sailors and soldiers were killed during combat action against Taliban forces in Afghanistan.
