Fallen Patriot Commemoration
This Interactive American Flag is dedicated to:

​Illinois Army National Guard
Staff Sergeant Ivory L. Phipps of Chicago

SSG Phipps, 44, served in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
with 1544th Transportation Company, Illinois Army National Guard unit from Paris, IL
Killed March 17, 2004 by enemy mortar attack in Baghdad, Iraq 
Posthumously promoted to Staff Sergeant

We honor and thank Staff Sergeant (SSG) Phipps for defending our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others.

Ivory L. Phipps was born January 21, 1960
Joined Army along with brother at age 18
Served in Operation Desert Storm
15 year member of Illinois National Guard (1989 - 2004)
Transportation NCO
Re-enlisted, at age 43, in 2003 to provide better life for newest son
Survived by his, then, 5 month old son, 2 adult sons, and teenage daughter
