Fallen Patriot Commemoration
This U.S. Flag site and Flag Steward experience is dedicated to this inspirational Patriot:
U.S. Marine Captain
Gregory A. Ratzlaff of Olympia, WA
Marine Helicopter Pilot that served as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
Died in a non-combat incident on Aug. 3, 2004
Greg took a unique path to become a US Marine Officer - having first served in the Navy as an enlisted aircrew member, then pushing through Marine Officer Candidate School and Naval Flight School. So, this quote reflects his commitment to service and country:
It's the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press.
It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.
It's the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate.
It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!
