Died on Jan. 7, 2006, along with 7 others,when a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Tal Afar, Iraq

Strongly opposed slavery and was nearly assassinated with Lincoln
Most well-known for leading purchase of Alaska, then nicknamed "Seward's Icebox" from Russia in 1867
Died October 10, 1872 in Auburn, NY
We honor and thank William Seward for serving our nation as Governor, Senator, and cabinet Secretary.
William Seward inspires us with his leadership and views on governance of its citizens:
